Hello everybody!

Thank you for working hard during the listening of 'White Wine in the Sun' by the Australian comedian, Tim Minchin.

Please do go over the worksheets that we did in class and check your answers by finding the relevant information to support your responses and check your understanding.

As mentioned in class, do learn all the new vocabulary and notice how they relate to Italian.

To follow, the worthy cause to which Tim contributed by working with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. It is a very moving clip; so, please prepare for tears.

The Fading Symphony - Tim Minchin and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra

During the Christmas holidays, please revise all that we have covered so far and write 250 words on the topic that excites or interests you most. It can be anything, from your favourite sports and how you feel when you practise or train, to your most ambitious travel destination, to your most loved TV programme, singer, actor etc.

Enjoy your time!

Please remember to bring back your progress tests as they will be kept by the school. I gave them back to you so that you could have a look at the things that you need to revise.

Well done for your hard work and dedication, everyone! I am certain the progress test will be a success and a good reward for the time you invested in your learning.

I did ask about the reason why you cannot comment on the blog and was told that only those with a Google account can write comments :-( Please try one more time, just for me, however!

At least you can read it, though! Please do get a gmail account, if you can.

REMEMBER

Please complete the following questionnaire as we want to know what you think of our services so far so that we can improve for you as you're very important to us.

The questionnaire is anonymous and you can find it here:

Please take a few minutes of your time to tell us what we are doing well and what we can do better.

Thank you,

Gabriella

Hello everyone!

Today, we've worked on pages 30-31 of our book, Objective PET and we've found out all about English prepositions of time.

You correctly worked out the rules yourselves and that made me very proud.

For homework, we will consolidate the work done in class by doing exercise 3 on page 10 of your workbook - this is more practice to do with the present continuous, and exercises 4-5 on page 11, to use the time prepositions we've seen correctly.

Enjoy your week and happy homework!

See you on Friday, same time, same place.

Gabriella

20.11.2015

Hello everybody!

Well done for your work on 'Spot the difference' on p. 25 of your book. That was to revise the present continuous.

Then we consolidated the skills of reading for gist and scanning for specific information.

The last 30' of the lesson were dedicated to doing some exam practice.

This week no specific homework left but please keep going over what we have seen thus far.

Thank you and happy homework!

Gabriella
17.11.2015

Hello again, everyone!

Today, we've introduced the description of various pictures using the present continuous to talk about what is happening at the moment the picture was taken.

Then we met the 'state verbs' (believe, know, think, like, understand and want) which are not used in the present continuous.

Then we introduced the phonemic alphabet and the phonemic transcription of such words as cut, cat and cart.

For homework, please complete exercises 4-6 on page 9 of your workbook.

Happy homework!

Gabriella

Hello team!

Thank you for your homework and good work in class.

This week we've introduced the present continuous, contrasting it with the present simple to emphasise the difference in how the two tenses are used.

We'll carry on with this during the coming week; so, please, for homework, revise the two tenses and other structures seen so far: want/would like and enjoy/like, particularly what comes after each structure.

Until next week, take care and have a nice week end!

Thank you for your homework, everyone!

Did you like taking our very own personality test on Tuesday 10.11.15? It seemed to show your personality type accurately, did it not?

For our next class on 13.11.15 I'd like you to complete the photocopy I gave you of  Exam Folder 2, on p. 21 of our book and exercise 1 on p. 6 of the workbook.

Happy homework and see you on Friday! :-)

Welcome to the first lesson of our Preliminary course!

Our classes will usually cover new material for the first hour and Exam Preparation for the remaining 45 minutes.

The book we'll use is: Objective PET.

Homework for our next class on 10.11.15 is the photocopy of "Exam Folder 1" on p. 14 of your book.

Please read the instructions carefully and imagine that you are in exam conditions.

Good luck! :-)
